Board Actions

The board of education on May 10:

  • Reviewed and accepted an evaluation of the district’s Title I program; read the report or view the presentation;
  • Reviewed and accepted an evaluation of the district’s English learner (EL) program; read the report or view the presentation;
  • Reviewed and accepted an evaluation of the district’s special education program; read the report or view the presentation; 
  • Approved paying $3,702,992.20 for regular bills;
  • Approved, subject to audit, the financial statements for the month of April 2022;
  • Approved paying $301,288.19 for purchases made on Pattonville’s purchasing cards, which earned the district a rebate of 1% (or $3,012.88);
  • Lodged for action the 2021-2022 budget revisions; a vote is expected during the June 14 board meeting;
  • Approved the May 2022 transportation route miles for the 2021-2022 school year;
  • Approved curriculum course change recommendations for the 2022-2023 school year, including the addition of two new courses: English Learner Instructional Support and Turning Points: Case Studies in American History; 
  • Adopted the instructional materials for high school business education instruction at a cost of $52,000;
  • Lodged for action updates to policies JGA (Corporal Punishment) and JGGA (Seclusion and Restraint); a vote is expected during the June 14 board meeting;
  • Approved paying $1,256 to Tueth, Keeney, Cooper, Mohan & Jackstadt for legal services;
  • Approved, as lodged for action on April 12, revisions to policies EGAAA (Reproduction of Copyrighted Materials), IGAC (Teaching about Religion), IGBB (Programs for Gifted Students) and KLB-R (Public Complains Regarding District Instructional Materials/Media/Library Materials) and the rescission of policies IGAA (Citizenship Education), IGAF (Physical Education), IIACA (Weeding of Library Materials Procedure), IKA (Grading Systems) and IKAB (Student Progress Reports to Parents);
  • Approved the purchase and installation of two scoreboard systems at the high school from Daktronics for $30,520;
  • Approved the purchase of cafeteria tables for Drummond Elementary School from EducationPlus, care of CI Select, for $50,298.35;
  • Awarded a bid to Hof Construction for renovations to Holman and Pattonville Heights middle schools for their Pirate Academy programs for $257,000;
  • Approved the purchase of furniture for the Holman Pirate Academy from EducationPlus, care of CI Select, for $24,634.98;
  • Approved a contract with Orca Solutions for professional learning services about personalized learning for $17,500;
  • Approved the renewal of the SchoolMessenger agreement with Intrado Interactive Services for 12 months for $14,591.14;
  • Awarded the bid to manage construction on the 2022 no-tax-rate-increase bond issue (Construction Manager at Risk or CMAR) to S.M. Wilson & Company; the construction management fees are 2.95%, with pre-construction at 0.20% and general conditions at 3.5%; 
  • Awarded Stifel, Nicolaus & Company the bid to underwrite the sale of bonds from the April 5, 2022, $111 million no-tax-rate-increase bond issue; and
  • Awarded a bid for architectural services for Package 1 of the 2022 no-tax-rate-increase bond issue to Ittner with a price structure of 6.65% plus reimbursable expenses.

Retirements

  • Kimberly Fleig, secretary at the high school, effective June 30 after serving Pattonville for six years
  • Kimberly Kohlfeld, cook at the high school, effective June 30 after serving Pattonville for 10 years 

Four support staff members were approved for retirement under the support staff separation incentive plan. They are:

  • Katherine Demas, bus driver, transportation
  • Brian Keomongkhoun, custodian, Pattonville Heights
  • Larry Shepard, custodian, Drummond
  • Cheryl Simpkins, cook, high school
